Ukraine Crises: Indian Embassy in Kyiv Advises Indians to Return Home
Digital Desk: In light of the growing prospect of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Indian embassy in Kyiv has requested that Indian students, particularly those whose stay is not required, should return to India. However, those who plan to stay in Ukraine should keep in touch with the embassy.

"In view of the uncertainties of the current situation in Ukraine, Indian nationals in Ukraine, particularly students whose stay is not essential, may consider leaving temporarily. Indian nationals are also advised to avoid all non-essential travel to and within Ukraine," the Indian Embassy stated in an advisory.

"Indian nationals are asked to keep the Embassy informed about their current status in Ukraine so that the Embassy can contact them if necessary. The embassy continues to provide all services to Indian nationals in Ukraine as usual." the statement added.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Monday that the US is transferring its Ukraine embassy operations from the capital Kyiv to the western city of Lviv.

The decision comes as US officials warned that Moscow was amassing more than 100,000 troops along Ukraine's border and in Belarus and that it could unleash a devastating strike at any time, including on Kyiv. On the other hand, Russia has refuted charges from the West that it is contemplating an invasion.

Reportedly, the Kremlin said on Monday that it is willing to continue talks with the West regarding security issues that led to the current crisis, hoping that Russia will not attack Ukraine in the coming days, as Western officials fear.
