According to a UN report, India is expected to overtake China as the world's most populous nation in 2023

Digital Desk: An analysis by the UN published on Monday
predicts that India will surpass China as the world's most populous country in
2019. The research also estimated that by mid-November 2022, there would be
eight billion people on the planet.

On November 15, 2022, the population of the
world is projected to surpass eight billion people, according to the World
Population Prospects 2022 study from the Population Division of the UN
Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

The population of the world declined by
less than 1% in 2020, increasing at its sluggishest rate since 1950.

The world's population may reach 8.5
billion people in 2030 and 9.7 billion by 2050, according to the most recent
projections from the United Nations.

The population is expected to reach its
peak in the 2080s at 10.4 billion people and remain there until 2100.

This year's World Population Day (July 11)
is especially important because the eighth billionth human being is anticipated
to be born. According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, this is a time
to embrace our diversity, recognise our common humanity, and marvel at medical
advancements that have considerably cut the rates of maternal and newborn
mortality and increased life expectancy.

The survey predicts that India will surpass
China as the country with the largest population in the world in 2023. The two
most populous continents in 2022 were Central and Southern Asia (2.1 billion
people) and Eastern and South-Eastern Asia (2.3 billion people), which together
made up 26% of the world's population.

By the middle of the century, India is
predicted to have 1.668 billion people, far more than China's 1.317 billion,
making it the most populous nation on Earth by 2023.

16.5 million from 2010 to 2021), India (-3.5 million), Bangladesh (-2.9

frequently sparked by sporadic labour movements (-1 million).

around 9 years from 1990. In 2050, it is predicted that additional mortality
declines will result in a global average lifespan of around 77.2 years.

But in 2021, the life expectancy in the least developed
countries lagged 7 years below the global average.

Alternative long-term population estimates have also been
undertaken by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).

The world's population will reach 8.8 billion people by the year
2100, with a range of 6.8 billion to 11.8 billion, according to IHME's most
recent projections.
