    Bangladesh fire: Dhaka building blaze claims at least 43 lives

    Fire Service informed that 42 individuals, including four children and 21 women, were rescued in an unconscious state from the scene.


    Digital Desk: The devastating fire incident in a multi-story building on Bailey Road in Dhaka has resulted in the tragic deaths of 44 individuals, including women and children. Health Minister Dr. Samanta Lal Sen confirmed the information, stating that 43 people lost their lives on Thursday night. Additionally, one more person succumbed to injuries at Dhaka Police Hospital, as reported by the Inspector General of Police, Abdullah Al Faruque.

     

    Expressing concern, the Health Minister rushed to the hospital upon receiving the news, and the Prime Minister instructed immediate action. The situation is grave, with 10 fatalities at the Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute and 33 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The Prime Minister directed comprehensive medical care for all affected individuals.

     

    Brigadier General Main Uddin, Director-General of the Fire Service, informed that 42 individuals, including four children and 21 women, were rescued in an unconscious state from the scene. The remaining 75 were found alive.

     

    Meanwhile, at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, bodies are lined up, awaiting the grieving relatives of the deceased. The area surrounding the hospital is heavily crowded with mourners. The incident occurred at the 'Kachchi Bhai Restaurant' building around 9:50 pm on Thursday, with the Fire Service striving for almost two hours to control the fire by 11:50 pm.
