sparked across the globe at the death of a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman,
Mahsa Amini. At the global level, people are voicing their opposition to "morality police's brutal treatment" of Amini, who was arrested for
not wearing a hijab. Iranian women have taken to the streets in protest against
hijab and have reaped support from many celebrities and political leaders.

Shakira has also extended support to the protesters who are revolting for their
freedom of expression.
Shakira shared a glimpse of
Iran's protests on Twitter. In the picture, one of the protesters was holding a
portrait of Amini. Sharing the picture, the singer wrote, "My heart is
with Mahsa Amini’s family and with the women and schoolgirls of Iran and all
those fighting for freedom of expression."
About Amini
A Kurdish-Iranian woman
named Mahsa Amini was arrested on September 13 for not wearing hijab. As per
reports, she was severely beaten in the police van, which led her into a coma.
Amini died from her multiple injuries three days later, and her death led to
protests and condemnation from Iranians. Although the police released a video
in which Amini could be seen falling flat in the police station, protesters
alleged that she suffered horrific injuries while in police custody.
