    Wickremesinghe, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, has announced that he will
    step down from his position to assure the survival of the government and the
    security of all residents.

    ensure the continuation of the Government including the safety of all citizens
    I accept the best recommendation of the Party Leaders today, to make way for an
    All-Party Government. To facilitate this I will resign as Prime.

    Program will also visit the nation next week, and the IMF's Debt Sustainability
    study is about to be completed.

    agreeable to this request of the Opposition Party Leaders in order to ensure
    the safety of the public."

    President for a maximum of 30 days, according to the Sri Lankan MP Harsha de

    resignation of the President and the Prime Minister.
