Digital Desk: Conjunctivitis, often known as pink eye, is a common disorder of the eyes marked by redness, irritation, swelling, and discharge. This highly spreading health problem can be caused by germs, viruses, irritants, or allergens.

Although pink eye often goes away on its own, timely care and home treatments can expedite recovery and ease discomfort.

Additionally, there has been an increase in pink eye instances attributed to floods and adverse weather conditions, which may help the infection spread and call for increased care in controlling and preventing outbreaks.

Here are some Ayurveda-inspired home remedies to prevent and treat the pink eye with ease:

    1. Eye drops and ointments - Doctors may recommend antibiotics or antiviral eye drops to treat pink eye, but it is always preferable to use natural ingredients-based Ayurvedic eye care products to shield the eyes against allergies and other eye diseases over the long term. Both the medical condition and the symptoms are effectively treated by these medications.

    2. Cool compress - Regular use of a cool compress helps reduce swelling and calm inflamed eyes. For a few minutes, place a clean, moist towel that has been soaked in cool water over the closed eyes. For comfort, repeat this numerous times every day.

    3. Rose water compress - Rose water offers calming and cooling qualities that can help reduce pain and inflammation. Place cotton pads on closed eyes for a few minutes after soaking them in pure rose water. Repeat as necessary all day long.

    4. Ghee eye massage - Ghee, or clarified butter, is said to provide medicinal benefits in Ayurveda. To reduce dryness and improve general eye health, gently massage the area around the eyes with ghee.

    5. Avoid touching eyes - To stop the pink eye and other contagious infections from spreading, avoid touching your eyes with unwashed hands. Additionally, this precaution can aid in avoiding subsequent infections.
