Digital Desk: Tina Dabi, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, announced her engagement on Instagram. In 2015, the UPSC topper made headlines for passing the competitive exam, and in 2018, for her marriage with her fellow topper Athar Aamir Khan.
Announcing the good news, Tina Dabi shared a picture of her and fiance Dr Pradeep Gawande. “I’m wearing the smile you gave me #fiance,” she captioned the post where she tagged Gawande.
Gawande is an IAS officer from the 2013 batch who is currently the Director, Archeology & Museums, Rajasthan, according to Instagram.
Gawande also posted photos of their engagement on his Instagram account. In one of his posts, he wrote, “Together is my favourite place to be!”
Tina Dabi, an IAS 2015 batch, is presently working as the Government of Rajasthan’s Joint Secretary of Finance (Tax). With over 1.4 million followers on the photo-sharing app, she has a large fan base. On Instagram, the government official posts updates about her work and personal life.
Tina Dabi divorced Athar Aamir Khan in 2021, whom she married in April 2018. Their wedding was viewed as a departure from social rules and garnered media attention. Dabi topped the UPSC civil services exams in 2015, while Athar Aamir Khan secured the second rank. Dabi was also the first Dalit student to succeed in the competitive exam on the first try.
During their training days, Dabi and Khan’s love sprouted. While their families did not object to the union, several religious radical groups did. Nevertheless, leaders from all political parties praised their wedding as the epitome of communal harmony.
The couple had a lavish wedding, with a gala reception attended by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Union Ministers, and then Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan.
