Opposition parties sparked a stir in the Rajya Sabha earlier on Tuesday, seeking a reduction of rising petrol and diesel prices.
Digital Desk: For the second day in a row, oil firms raised diesel and petrol prices by 80 paisa per litre across the country.
As per the new tariff, petrol costs Rs 97.01 per litre in Delhi, while diesel costs Rs 88.27 per litre.
In Mumbai, petrol will cost Rs 111.67 and diesel will cost Rs 95.85. Notably, Mumbai has the highest petrol prices among the country's metro cities.
Petrol costs Rs 106.34 (increased 83 paisa) in Kolkata, while diesel costs Rs 91.42. (Increased by 80 paisa).
In Chennai, the price of petrol is now Rs 102.91 per litre, while diesel is Rs 92.95 per litre.
Notably, the increase in oil prices comes after a four-month gap. The administration reduced fuel excise duty in November last year to provide relief to the consumers. When the price of petrol was at an all-time high, the government lowered the duty on petrol by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs 10 per litre.
