Experts recommend resting a painful throat or cough and eating meals that will moisten your throat.
The remedy, according to Dr Savyasachi Saxena, Senior Consultant & HOD, ENT, Fortis Hospital, Noida, is to avoid any form of allergens getting into your throat.
"If there is persistent coughing or other symptoms associated with a sore throat, medicine must be administered. However, if you only have an irritating sore throat, you can reduce the pain at home" Dr. Saxena stated.
The recommended treatment is for the patient to get enough rest. "Take a break from your work or, if you have a vocal vocation, cease it immediately," Dr Saxena said.
Drink plenty of drinks to keep the throat moist. "Water, warm soup, and other warm liquids like tea and coffee (but not in excess as they would cause acidity) can be taken," Dr Saxena stated.
Aside from that, bland foods such as fresh fruits and semi-cooked vegetables should be ingested for quick recuperation. You can incorporate comfort foods like dalia and khichdi into your diet.
Gargling is a vital part of the therapy process. "Continue gargling with warm, salted water. Alternatively, certain over-the-counter gargle treatments are available "He stated.
Dr. Saxena suggests using an air humidifier to help keep your throat moist. If you don't have a humidifier, steaming can help relieve pain.
Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol during this time, and limit your intake of bitter and sour foods.
"Take a breather. If the coughing worsens or any other peculiar symptoms persist, consult an ENT specialist or a physician" Dr. Saxena advised.
