World Elephant Day was co-founded on August 12, 2012, by Canadian Patricia Sims and the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation of Thailand, an initiative of HM Queen Sirikit of Thailand. Patricia Sims has continued to oversee World Elephant Day ever since. Since its inception, it has collaborated with 100 elephant conservation organizations worldwide, reaching millions of people worldwide. The fact that World Elephant Day has attracted millions of participants worldwide indicates how much people care about elephants and are willing to go to any length to protect them.

World Elephant Day is a platform for organizations and individuals to come together and speak out about elephant-related issues.
