Digital Desk: In a tragic incident, 22-year-old Agniveer killed himself on Tuesday night using his INSAS service rifle inside the technical area of the Indian Air Force complex at Agra's Tajnagari under Shahganj police station. The motive behind his decision remains unclear as no suicide note was found, according to police reports.
The deceased has been identified as Shrikant Kumar Choudhary from Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district.
The Indian Air Force has initiated an inquiry to determine the circumstances surrounding Choudhary's death. He was recently cremated in his native village of Narayanpur with full military honors, underscoring the solemnity of the loss.
SHO Amit Kumar Maan of Shahganj police station confirmed that no formal complaint has been lodged by the family, but investigations are ongoing. Choudhary had joined the IAF in December 2022 and had been stationed in Agra for the past six months after returning from a brief visit home in early June.
The incident has cast a shadow over the Air Force community in Agra, provoking reflections on mental health support and welfare within the armed forces.
