Digital Desk: Mumbai-based travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar, aged 27, tragically lost her life after slipping and falling into a gorge while shooting an Instagram reel at Kumbhe waterfall in Raigad district, Maharashtra.
Kamdar, a chartered accountant renowned for her travel blog @theglocaljournal, was visiting the popular site with seven friends on July 16.
According to Mangaon police, she slipped and plunged approximately 300 feet while filming. Her friends promptly alerted local authorities, who initiated a rapid and coordinated rescue operation. The efforts involved the Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and personnel from the Maharashtra State Electricity Board.
"The girl had fallen nearly 300-350 feet. Despite the challenging weather conditions and her injuries, we managed to reach her and used a vertical pulley to bring her up," described one of the rescuers to NDTV.
Despite the extensive rescue efforts lasting six hours, Kamdar succumbed to her injuries at Mangaon Taluka government hospital, as confirmed by local police.
