4 Indian Army soldiers martyred in encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda

Digital Desk: As many as four brave soldiers of the Indian Army, including a Major, have made the ultimate sacrifice during a powerful encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district. This tragic incident occurred during a joint operation by the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Desa area, following credible intelligence about terrorist presence.

The encounter, which began at approximately 9 pm, quickly escalated into a heavy firefight, resulting in casualties among our valiant soldiers. Initial reports indicated injuries to several others, with at least five soldiers critically injured. This marks the second major attack in the Jammu region within a week, following a similar tragic incident in Kathua where five soldiers were killed and others injured in a coordinated strike on military trucks.

In recent times, terrorist activities have expanded from traditional hotspots like Poonch and Rajouri to encompass the broader Jammu region. This unsettling trend underscores the persistent threat posed by terrorism, even in areas previously considered relatively safe.

Over the past 32 months, the region has witnessed the loss of 48 soldiers in such encounters, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by security forces. Reports suggest a significant presence of foreign terrorists, trained in jungle warfare, operating across the province, adding to the complexity of the security situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently emphasized the need for a comprehensive anti-terrorism strategy in the region, urging the Army to deploy all available resources to combat this risk effectively.
