Mumbai: Amid the high rise in omicron cases in Mumbai, information has been received from the intelligence agency that Khalistani terrorists can ambush in the financial capital of India.
Reportedly, the police have beefed up the security at railway stations and other public places to counter the possible terror attack. Moreover, all the holidays and week off of the policeman has been cancelled due to the high alert.
Mumbai police said, “Police got information that Khalistani terrorists may carry out terrorist’s activities in Mumbai city on the New Year’s eve. The police force has been deployed in the city to deal with crowds at important locations such as the Gateway of India and Marine Drive. Moreover, security at major train stations of Mumbai, including Dadar, Bandra Churchgate, CSMT, has been ramped up.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil stated that a strong police arrangement has been made in Maharashtra, including Mumbai.
Further, asserting the increasing covid-19 cases, Patil said, “In view of the rapid rise of delta variant and Omicron cases in the state, there is a total ban on organizing party of any kind. If any person is seen violating the rules and regulations, then strict action will be taken against them.”
In the light of the hike in Omicron cases, the Maharashtra government has already implemented Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) as preventive measures ahead of the New Year celebrations.
