Digital Desk : The Election Commission has announced the dates for Assembly Election that will be held in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand.
The Commission will announce the date in accordance to the meet with the government after a briefing on the prevailing Covid situation, and particularly the threat posed by the fast-spreading Omicron strain.
Top officials from the Election Commission and the Health Ministry met in Delhi to discuss and polling situation, listing measures on vaccination of all poll workers and voters. The briefing also constituted measures for installing Covid screening booths at polling centres.

As per the presser ongoing, the ECI has made Model Code of Conduct effective from the announcement of the schedules.
The Election Commission has also made elaborate arrangements for ensuring effective implementation of the MCC guidelines.
The ECI has urged voters to report any incident of the Model Code of Conduct, distribution of money and freebies. Within 100 minutes of complaint, ECI officials will reach the place of offence, says CEC Sushil Chandra.
To avoid any poll-related violence, the Election Commission of India has ensured sufficient CAPF companies that will be deployed in all poll-bound states looking at law & order situation and threat perception.
The Election Commission has also directed political parties that no physical political rallies and roadshows will be allowed till January 15, 2022 considering the surge in Covid cases in the country,
The dates for the Assemble Election 2022 are mentioned as follows:-
Uttar Pradesh to go to poll in 7 phases from 10th Feb, 2022 to 7th March, 2022, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa will go to poll on 14th February, 2022 and Manipur will vote on 27th February, 2022 and 3rd March, 2022. Counting of votes will take place on 10th March, 2022 respectively.
Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in 7 phases:-
1st Phase – 10th Feb
2nd phase – 14th Feb
3rd Phase – 20th Feb
4th Phase – 23rd Feb
5th Phase - 27th Feb
6th Phase – 3rd March
7th Phase - 7th March
Counting will take place on 10th March.
