The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) categorizes holidays into three types, including those under the Negotiable Instruments Act, those under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

It is important to note that while the majority of bank holidays are consistent throughout India, certain public holidays may vary across states based on local customs and cultures. To confirm whether your bank is closed on a specific day, it is advisable to refer to the local guidelines of the state in which you reside.

On gazetted holidays, banks will be closed nationwide, and customers are encouraged to plan their financial transactions accordingly.
