    Bhagwant Mann lifted security of 122 ex-MLAs, including Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu
    Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife Navjot Kaur are among those whose security has been lifted.

    Digital Desk: Ahead of his oath-taking ceremony as Punjab's next chief minister, Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann removed the security cover of 122 former MLAs, including Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, on Saturday.

    Manpreet Singh Badal, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Razia Sultana, Pargat Singh, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria, Sanjay Talwar, Nathu Ram, Darshan Lal, Dharambir Agnihotri, Arun Narang, Tarlochan Singh, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, and Navjot Singh Sidhu are among those whose security cover has been removed.

    Meanwhile, Mann has appointed Venu Prasad as his Principal Secretary. Prasad is an IAS officer of the 1991 batch.

    Earlier, on the day, Mann also met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit to stake his claim to form its government in Punjab. Mann was elected as the AAP Legislature Party's leader on Friday during a meeting of the party's MLAs in Mohali. Raghav Chadha, AAP Punjab in-charge, accompanied Mann to the Governor's residence.

    Mann stated, "I met with the governor, handed over a letter of support from our legislators, and staked my claim to form a government. He instructed me to inform him of the location of the swearing-in ceremony. It will be held at Bhagat Singh's native village at Khatkar Kalan at 12.30 p.m. on March 16. People from all over Punjab will attend the ceremony and pay tribute to Bhagat Singh. We will have a good cabinet, and historic decisions will be made that have never been made before. But for this, you will have to wait."

     

    Reportedly, several MLAs are being considered for ministerial positions, including Harpal Singh Cheema, Aman Arora, Baljinder Kaur, Saravjit Kaur Manuke, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Budh Ram, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, Jeevanjyot Kaur, and Dr Charanjit Singh.
