Challenge BJP to cross even 200 seats, won't allow CAA in Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

The Citizenship Amendment Act will not be implemented in the state, Mamata Banerjee further said.

Digital Desk: Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, challenged the BJP to win at least 200 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, mocking the party's goal of securing 400 or more seats.

The Citizenship Amendment Act will not be implemented in the state, Mamata Banerjee further said.

She advised against applying for CAA, warning that doing so would make the applicant a foreign national.

"The BJP claims to have "400 paar," but I dare them to surpass the 200 seat threshold first. They had to stop at 77 seats in the 2021 assembly votes, despite calling for more than 200," the speaker said.

"The CAA is a ruse to coerce lawful persons into becoming non-citizens. Speaking at her first rally of the election season since her injury earlier this month, she declared, "We would allow neither CAA nor NRC in West Bengal."

TMC chief Banerjee attacked the CPI(M) and Congress, the other partners in the opposition alliance in India, for "joining hands with the BJP" in West Bengal.

"There is no INDIA alliance in West Bengal. The CPI(M) and Congress are working for the BJP in Bengal," she said while addressing an election rally at Krishnanagar in support of TMC candidate Mahua Moitra.

"Our MP Mahua Moitra was maligned and expelled from the Lok Sabha as she was vocal against the BJP," she continued.
