Digital desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the rejection of the Narendra Modi-led government to any Chinese intrusion into Indian territory while speaking at a poll rally in Lakhimpur, Assam. As tensions between China and India over border disputes continue to rise, Shah made these comments.

Underlining the administration's resolve to protect India's borders, Shah declared, "China couldn't encroach even a single inch of our land under the Narendra Modi government." The government's achievements in limiting infiltration, stopping encroachments, and fortifying the border with Bangladesh were highlighted by him.

Shah brought up past occurrences, including the Chinese invasion of 1962, and criticizing Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's response. "In 1962, Nehru bid adieu to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh amid Chinese aggression. "People in these states will never forget that," he said, drawing attention to the difference from the aggressive stance taken by the current administration.

Shah also attacked the Opposition, namely the Congress, saying they were unable to adequately oppose China. Citing examples like the Doklam standoff, in which India effectively rejected Chinese advances, he refuted claims of inaction.

Shah addressed worries about infiltration and gave the Modi government credit for shutting Assam's border with Bangladesh and reducing unauthorized immigration. He said that under the BJP-led government, things have significantly gotten better and he chastised the past administrations for their lax border management.

Shah continued to criticise the Congress while emphasising the actions taken by the government of Modi to bring stability back to Assam, including measures to integrate youth into society and peace treaties. To highlight the necessity of decisive leadership, he compared this to the Congress's past of turmoil in the area.

Shah emphasized the importance of Assam in the development of the Northeast and promised that the central government would continue to support the state's advancement. He expressed confidence in the state's development trajectory and mentioned the significant increase in funds allocated to Assam under the NDA government.
