Digital Desk: India on Thursday strongly reacted to China renaming 15 places in Arunachal Pradesh. Acknowledging the malicious intrusion by China in trying to change facts, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), hit back with a strong reiteration, “This is not the first time China has attempted such renaming of places in Arunachal. It had also sought to assign such names in 2017.”
“Arunachal Pradesh,” he said, “has always been, will always be an integral part of India. Assigning invented named to places in Arunachal Pradesh does not alter this fact.”

This is the second time China has attempted in renaming places inside Arunachal Pradesh.
China’s top legislative body, the National People’s Congress had on October 23, passed a new law citing “protection and exploitation of the country’s land border areas”.
The committee stated that the new law will be effective from January 1.
According to the national news agency of China, Xinhua news agency, the law states “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of… China are sacred and inviolable”, and asks the state to “take measures to safeguard territorial integrity and land boundaries and guard against and combat any act that undermines these.”
The Chinese government has stated that the law will not breach the existing border arrangements. Still India continues to remain on edge regarding Beijing’s intentions, owing to a continued border dispute with the country.
After several observations, debates and discussions, Arunachal Pradesh continues to remain as the main bone of contention owing to Sino-India border dispute. China has always made attempts to claim many areas inside Arunachal Pradesh as their own and have also altered maps as per their requirement, showing Arunachal Pradesh as their territory.
