    Confirmed: Azad Samaj Party to alliance with Samajwadi Party for UP Polls
    Digital Desk: Chief of the Bhim Army Chandra Shekhar Aazad has confirmed the news of his party Azad Samaj Party alliance with Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi party.

    The Bhim Army chief will be arriving at the Samajwadi Party office to participate in the alliance and will hold a press conference at 12:30 pm today.

    However, the police denied the Azad Samaj Party founder and chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad to hold a press conference in his Lucknow office in view of Covid-19 restrictions and Section 144 in place. The police said they had earlier issued a notice to the party in this regard but the party chose to ignore it.

    The Samajwadi Party has already allied with Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Janwadi Party (Socialist), Apna Dal (Krishna Patel), Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSP-L), and Mahan Dal.

    By joining hands with Azad Samaj Party, the Samajwadi Party is looking forward to tap Dalit votes, the base of the Mayawati led Bahujan Samaj Party.

    Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh politics has seen some dramatic turns in the last few days, as an array of defection, resignations from the Bharatiya Janata Party has put Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet in the tight spot.

    A total of 8 MLAs and cabinet ministers from Yogi’s cabinet have already quit the party sighting “myopic steps” or no interest over the Dalit and the minority groups of the state.
