Digital Desk: Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday filed a Privilege Motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sharing on X the portions of BJP MP Anurag Thakur's remarks on caste that were expunged from the parliamentary record the previous day.
The complaint alleges that Thakur made several objectionable comments in the Lok Sabha, which were later removed by the chairperson. Amid the row over the five-time MP's remark, the Prime Minister shared a video of Mr Thakur's speech on X and said it is a "must hear".
"This speech by my young and energetic colleague, Shri @ianuragthakur is a must hear. A perfect mix of facts and humour, exposing the dirty politics of the INDI Alliance," he said.
During his Lok Sabha address on Tuesday, the former Union Minister made a remark without naming anyone, saying, "The one whose caste is not known is talking about the census." In response, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi interrupted, stating, "You can insult me as much as you want, but remember, we will pass the caste census bill in Parliament."
