Digital Desk: The Indian National Congress has declared its intent to conduct nationwide protests following what it claims to be planned attacks on the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi in Assam.

The yatra, which commenced in Manipur on January 14, aims to cover 833 kilometers across 17 districts, concluding in Assam on January 25th.

Accusing Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, of directing relentless assaults on the party's convoys and properties, Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal labeled Sarma as "the most corrupt CM in India."

Venugopal asserted that these attacks were an attempt to divert attention from alleged administrative failures and corruption within the BJP government at both state and central levels.

Taking to social media, Venugopal stated, "Since our entry in Assam, the most corrupt CM in India has been carrying out relentless attacks on our convoys, properties, and leaders using his goons."

He called on Indians to take the matter seriously, emphasizing that it exposed what he termed as "the BJP’s fascism and hooliganism." He urged PCCs and DCCs across India to hold large-scale protests to expose what he portrayed as the Modi-led BJP's undermining of democracy in Assam.

The Congress party, undeterred by the alleged attacks, has called for massive protest demonstrations at state and district headquarters, involving senior leaders and party functionaries.

These protests aim to stand against the suppression of their cause and uphold their commitment to justice. Additionally, the party has demanded a judicial inquiry into the attack on Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah, implicating a BJP MLA and his supporters.

Despite reports of Rahul Gandhi being mobbed and posters torn down during the yatra, the Congress party remains resolute in its mission for social, economic, and political justice. The protests signify the party's determination to confront challenges and maintain its stance against what it perceives as attempts to undermine its cause in Assam.
