‘Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will be out of jail in 24 hours, if…’: AAP leader Manish Sisodia

Digital Desk: Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Saturday surged party workers and the public to stand up against what he described as the country's "dictatorship," a day after his release from jail related to the Delhi excise policy case. In his address to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters at the party headquarters, Sisodia criticized the BJP, asserting that they are not above the Constitution. He emphasized that the struggle against this "dictatorship" is crucial as it not only targets leaders but also harasses ordinary citizens.

Sisodia shared that during his time in jail, he was more distressed by the imprisonment of businessmen in "false cases" who did not contribute to the BJP, rather than his own bail situation. The Supreme Court granted him bail on Friday, citing that his 17-month detention without trial had violated his right to a speedy trial.

Regarding AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who remains imprisoned in the same case, Sisodia lauded him as a symbol of integrity. He claimed that there are ongoing efforts to undermine Kejriwal’s reputation and asserted that if opposition leaders come together against the "dictatorship," Kejriwal could be freed within 24 hours.

Sisodia described the Supreme Court's bail decision as a triumph of constitutional power over dictatorship and expressed frustration over the prolonged judicial process, noting that while he had hoped for justice in seven to eight months, it took 17 months for the truth to prevail.

Additionally, Sisodia criticized the BJP by referencing the situation with Vinesh Phogat, without naming her directly. He mentioned the controversy surrounding her disqualification from the Paris Olympics for being slightly overweight before her final match and linked it to broader issues of government inaction against former Wrestling Federation of India head Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who faced allegations of sexual harassment.
