Discords among Farmer Unions breaks out in Rail Roko stir
During the uproar against the three farm laws that have since been repealed, the lack of trust among the farm bodies was exposed once more as both groups blamed one another for their lack of unity.....

Digital desk: Bathinda Sharp Disagreements among the leaders of the farmer unions resurfaced on Sunday, despite their concerted efforts to ensure that "rail roko" was a success throughout the state. As part of their agitation, leaders of five Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) constituents and SKM (non-political) separately disrupted trains from 12 to 4 p.m.

However, during the uproar against the three farm laws that have since been repealed, the lack of trust among the farm bodies was exposed once more as both groups blamed one another for their lack of unity. The disruption had a more extensive effect on train schedules throughout the state, but in public speeches, officials from Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) constituents and SKM (non-political) didn't hold back and punched each other.

Leaders of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella organization representing several unions nationwide, attacked the SKM in public speeches, saying that there was no way to work with the "SKM (non-political)", which was leading the agitation at the borders of Shambhu and Khanauri. The head of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, Sarwan Singh Pandher, and other SKM (non-political) leaders, Jagjit Singh Dallewal, have not responded to five unions that have publicly supported rail roko, according to leaders of the Bharti Kisan Union Ugrahan.

General secretary of the BKU Ugrahan faction Sukhdev Singh Kokrikalan stated that four other unions, BKU (Malwa-Heerke), BKU (Dakaunda) Dhaner faction, Krantikari Kisan Union, and BKU (Doaba-Sangha) jointly blocked railway lines in ten districts for four hours, but they will not join the protest at the Haryana borders until their leaders adopt a common stance. Speaking to a crowd of demonstrators at Bathinda City's Multania Bridge, Dallewal did not hold back in criticizing the leaders of other farmer unions (SKM) for failing to support the demand for a legally guaranteed purchase of all crops at Minimum support Price (MSP).

Speaking to a crowd of demonstrators at Bathinda City's Multania Bridge, Dallewal did not hold back in criticizing the leaders of other farmer unions (SKM) for failing to support the demand for a legally guaranteed purchase of all crops at MSP (minimum support price). "We are demonstrating in support of Punjabi farmers. We have an accountability to them. We're not going to stop protesting even if Dallewal and Pandher don't want to talk to us", Ugrahan said. Jhanda Singh Jethuke, the state vice president of BKU Ugrahan, stated that it appears the Dallewal is adamantly opposed to unity.

The central government should be pressed to fulfill several demands, he said, including MSP for all crops based on the Swaminathan formula of C2+50 (input cost of capital+50%), legal guarantee of procurement, debt waiver, no increase in electricity tariffs, and no smart meters. He said the non-political SKM and KMM failed to address this proposal.

Unexpectedly, the non-political SKM and KMM are no longer calling for the state DGP, home minister, and chief minister of Haryana to be held accountable for Shub Karan Singh's death at the hands of the police at the Khanauri border. Jethuke said, "Dallewal and KMM hinted at their position on unity by denying senior SKM leaders a platform to speak at the Shubh Karan bhog ceremony on March 3."

The SKM has not been in touch with Dallewal or Pandher to participate in the March 14 rally in Delhi, he continued. Following February 13, both leaders once more called for 'Delhi Chalo' on March 6, disregarding SKM's already announced protest on Thursday in the nation's capital. SKM is still attempting to lead them all along, but several events indicate that they are uninterested. Therefore, they haven't been invited to participate in the upcoming one-day protest, Jethuke continued.
