Digital desk: The Election Commission of India sent Delhi minister Atishi a notice, days after she said that the BJP had threatened to arrest her if she didn't swap sides. The Election Commission of India sent her a notice over an alleged violation of the poll code. The election authority requested that the AAP leader respond by 5 p.m. on Saturday, citing that the BJP has complained regarding her remarks.

As a minister, voters tend to trust what she says in public, according to the EC; therefore, if her statements have been challenged, she needs to be able to support them with facts. "You are hereby called upon to furnish your para-wise response to the matter latest by 17.00 hrs of 6th April 2024," the EC stated.

Following Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's arrest last month, Atishi, one of the top leaders in charge of managing AAP affairs, stated earlier this week that the BJP had offered her to swap sides to preserve her political career.

On Tuesday AAP leader Atishi claimed, "The BJP has approached me through someone very close. They have asked me to join the BJP and said this will save my political career. They have threatened that if I don't switch over, ED (Enforcement Directorate) will arrest me within a month."

The BJP party responded to the claim with a defamation notice and a demand for a public apology.

Virendra Sachdeva, the head of the Delhi BJP, claimed that she failed to disclose who, how, or when she was approached. "The AAP is undergoing a crisis in Delhi, which is why they are making such baseless allegations out of frustration. But we will not let her get away with this," he had said.

They also complained to the Election Commission, claiming that Atishi's statements were false and misleading.

A model code of conduct has been implemented throughout the nation. Due to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which will take place over three months and have been declared the world's largest festival of democracy.
