Kerala: A controversial statement made by a Catholic priest in Kerala has caused a massive political furor. The priest, Bishop of Pala Mar Joseph Kallarangatt said, "Jihadi terrorists’ in Kerala are resorting to not just ‘love jihad’ but ‘narcotic jihad’ as well to trap Hindu and Christian girls."
Delivering a message at Kuravilangad church on Wednesday, the bishop cited media reports about women from Kerala traveling to Afghanistan to fight for IS and said it has to be examined how such girls ended up in terrorist training camps.
Taking examples of two women, Nimisha and Sonia Sebastian, the priest highlighted that, these two changed their names to Fathima and Ayesha, respectively, after being converted to Islam. They were later traced to terrorist training camps in Afghanistan, he said, adding: “They brainwash the girls to such an extent that they reject their parents, family members, religion and faith.”
Speaking about 'narcotic jihad', the priest explained that the jihadi terrorists use it as a strategy to turn non-Muslim youngsters into drug addicts.
They roam around near schools and colleges to ensnare girls. They run ice cream and soft drink parlours, he said.
