Farmers outcry continues: Samyukta Kisan Morcha stages Rail Roko protest

Farmers all over the nation continued their outcry against the Minister for farmers killing in Lakhimpur Kheri. Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM ) staged a protest today against the incident and their rights.

An umbrella body of numerous farmers unions today staged a protest against the Kheri farmers killing. They have been spearheading the anti-farm law agitation since last year.

The rail barrier will be in force for six hours, from 10 am to 4 pm, the SMK stated in a statement.

The underway farmers protest started at 10 pm today and is presently underway. The group asks for the dismissal of the Union minister of state (MoS) for home affairs Ajay Mishra from the Cabinet.

Protesters blocked railway tracks near Sahnewal and Rajpura. The farmers union also halted New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express near Shambu station at around 10:07 am.

The event of halt raised issue for around 30 regions and eight trains in Northern Railway Zone.

"It is very obvious that with Ajay Mishra being the MoS for Home Affairs in the Union Government, justice cannot be secured in this matter," said SKM on Sunday.

"He served hatred, antagonism and communal disharmony within Hindus and Sikhs in his lectures. He defended his son and associates even as the police were issuing summons to Ashish Mishra," it continued.

The SKM has claimed that the Minister's son Ashish Mishra was driving in the vehicle during the Kheri incident. The vehicle mowed down farmers, resulting in the loss of as many as eight people. The farmers were arising out of a demonstration against the Centre's three farm laws when two SUVs ran over them.

The deceased in the incident also included three BJP workers and a local journalist. But, Ajay Mishra had denied any claims against him and his son.
