    From Paperboy to Aspiring Cricketer, meet Mohammed Wasim

    New Delhi: Nothing can stop you if you are determined to achieve your dream. Well, this line has been followed by one of the country’s aspiring cricketer, which has made a mark in the East Delhi Premier League (EDPL) here at Yamuna Sports Complex.





    Mohammed Wasim, who came to the spotlight during the EDPL cricket tournament, was praised by BJP MP and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir.





    While sharing four photos of the young cricketer Gautam Gambhir tweeted in Hindi, “Mohammad Wasim used to distribute newspaper, now his photograph will be printed in them.”

    Wasim, who lost his parents at an early age, has divided his time between being a paperboy and cricket. To help the family, Wasim and his brother do odd jobs to meet the monthly expense.





    19-year –old Wasim surprised selector when he managed to bowl at a speed of close to 140 km per hour, all while wearing a pair of slippers.





    Wasim said, “I lost my parents at a tender age so to meet the family expenses me and my brother started doing odd jobs. Getting selected for the tournament would boost my cricketing career.”
    “The officials helped me out with cricket kits and shoes for my practice.” He added.





    EDPL, which East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir conducts, consists of 10 teams named after 10 constituencies.





    The winning team at EDPL will be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 30 lakh, while the runner-ups will receive Rs 20 lakh.





    Earlier, Gautam Gambhir shared a similar tweet of appreciation for bowler Vijay Pal, who joined the EDPL from Trilokpuri.
