From silver screen to political arena, Govinda weighs joining Shiv Sena for Lok Sabha polls
Govinda's potential entry into politics marks a shift in the dynamics of Mumbai's electoral arena, reminiscent of his previous electoral victory in 2004.......

Digital desk: Bollywood actor Govinda may contest the Lok Sabha election on the Shiv Sena ticket from Mumbai North-West seat, sources said on Friday, March 22. The actor had met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde five days ago. This time Shinde group is unwilling to give the ticket to sitting MP Gajanan Kirtikar from the North-West seat.

Sources close to the matter reveal that Govinda's name is gaining attraction as a possible candidate for the North West Lok Sabha seat, fueling anticipation of his imminent political debut under the Shiv Sena banner. It is rumored that Govinda may soon formalize his association with the party in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The actor's recent meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at Varsha, the official residence, has further fueled speculations surrounding his potential political journey. With Shiv Sena's announcement of Amol Kirtikar as its candidate for the North West seat under the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, discussions about Govinda's candidacy have intensified, especially considering Gajanan Kirtikar's advancing age.

Govinda's potential entry into politics marks a shift in the dynamics of Mumbai's electoral arena, reminiscent of his previous electoral victory in 2004. Back then, Govinda clinched victory over BJP's Ram Naik, securing the Mumbai North Lok Sabha seat. Notably, other Bollywood luminaries such as Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit, and Nana Patekar were also considered for the same constituency, with Akshay and Nana declining and no response received from Madhuri Dixit.

As the spotlight now turns to Govinda's political aspirations, all eyes are on his anticipated entry into the Shiv Sena camp and the ensuing reactions from opposition quarters. With his potential candidacy for the North West Lok Sabha seat gathering momentum, Govinda's foray into politics promises to add a new chapter to Mumbai's electoral narrative, shaping the political landscape in unforeseen ways.
