    'Will cancel passports, visa  of protesters': Haryana cops warn Dilli Chalo farmers

    Farmers are protesting in order to urge the central government to grant their requests, which include forgiveness of farm loans and a legal guarantee for the minimum support price (MSP) for crops.

    Digital Desk: The Haryana Police have made a request for the cancellation of passports and visas of those allegedly involved in violence during the ongoing farmers' protest. This news comes as Punjabi farmers are debating whether to continue their march towards Delhi. Since February 13, when security personnel stopped their first march towards the nation's capital, the protestors have been camped at the Khanauri and Shambhu points on the Punjab-Haryana border.
     
     Efforts to Cancel Passports and Visas

    DSP Ambala Joginder Sharma said, "We have identified individuals who have brought violence into Haryana from Punjab under the pretext of a demonstration by farmers. Using a drone and CCTV footage, we have successfully identified them. We will ask the Embassy and Ministry to cancel their passports and visas. The passport office will get their address, name, and photographs. Our goal is to revoke their passports."

    Recent Advancements 
     
     • In light of the killing of Bathinda resident Shubhkaran Singh, 22, on February 21, the Punjab Police filed a murder complaint against an unidentified person. Furthermore, twelve security officers were injured in fights in Khanauri with farmers who were protesting.

     • Various NGOs gathered in Amritsar to observe a candlelight vigil in Shubhkaran Singh's memory. 
     
     • The registration of the FIR marks the conclusion of the stalemate between farmers and the Punjab government, facilitating the post-mortem of the body. Farmer leaders insisted on registering an FIR before allowing the post-mortem.

     • Shubhkaran Singh's body is currently at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala and is expected to be cremated today.

    • Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann declared that Shubhkaran Singh's sister would receive a government job and a compensation of Rs 1 crore.

    ·  After identifying demonstrators who participated in violence during the agitation, the Haryana Police plan to as embassies and governments to cancel their visas and passports.

     The protesters' demands 
     
     The organisers of the 'Dilli Chalo' protest, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are calling for the following: the implementation of the recommendations made by the Swaminathan Commission; pensions for farmers and farm laborers; no increase in electricity tariffs; the withdrawal of police cases; "justice" for the victims of the violence in Lakhimpur, Kheri in 2021; the reinstatement of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013; and compensation for the families of farmers who lost their lives during the 2020–21 agitation. 
     
    The Haryana Police's decision to pursue the cancellation of visas and passports is indicative of the growing strain surrounding the farmers' protest. More developments are anticipated as the situation develops and as long as demonstrators and officials keep up their conversations and actions.
