Khedkar firstdraws attention earlier this month when she was transferred from Pune to Washim district due to complaints regarding her conduct during her probation period, including the unauthorized use of a private car fitted with a beacon light.
Digital Desk: The controversy surrounding Puja Khedkar, who allegedly used fabricated disability and caste certificates to secure her position, has deepened with a series of allegations now involving both the trainee IAS officer and her family. Troubles for the Maharashtra cadre IAS officer escalated this week when the Delhi Police registered a case against her following a complaint from the UPSC, which administers the civil services exam.
Since the controversy erupted, numerous inconsistencies in her medical certificates have surfaced. Additionally, she applied for disability certificates under two different names - Khedkar Puja Deeliprao and Puja Manorama Dilip Khedkar. Khedkar firstdraws attention earlier this month when she was transferred from Pune to Washim district due to complaints regarding her conduct during her probation period, including the unauthorized use of a private car fitted with a beacon light. She also requested special privileges such as a separate office, an official vehicle, and staff, which are not typically provided to trainee officers.
Chronology of Puja Khedkar Case:
• In 2019, Khedkar obtained a certificate for visual impairment from Ahmednagar district hospital.
• In 2021, she acquired a combined certificate for visual impairment and mental illness from the same hospital.
• In 2022, to substantiate her disability claim for the UPSC exam, she applied for a locomotor disability certificate at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital, Pimpri. The certificate stated a 7% locomotor disability in her left knee due to an old ACL tear.
• During the certificate application process, Khedkar allegedly presented a fake ration card and falsely claimed residence at Plot No. 53, Dehu-Alandi, Talwade, which is actually a property belonging to Thermoverita Engineering Private Limited and not a residential address. The municipal corporation has since sealed the property due to unpaid taxes amounting to Rs 2 lakh.
• Simultaneously, she applied for a locomotor disability certificate at Aundh Civil Hospital, but this application was automatically rejected on October 11, 2022, after she received the certificate from Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital.
• Based on the disability certificate from Yashwantrao Chavan Hospital, she applied for benefits under the "person with benchmark disability" category and appeared for the civil services exam.
