    India Covid-19 update: Records 3,47,254 new cases, 703 casualties in a single day 
    Digital Desk: As per India Covid-19 update, he surge of Covid-19 continues to take a high peak in India. According to the Union health ministry, India registered 3,47,254 new Covid cases in a single day.

    Moreover, the ministry has added that there were 703 casualties reported in India on Friday. The death toll has risen over 70% in the last few days compared to the week earlier.

    The active cases of the Covid-19 virus completed the two-million spot. This spot is supported by the newly detected Omicron variant, which transmission pace is faster than any other Covid-19 variant.

    The active cases have risen to 20,18,825, the most elevated in 235 days, the ministry data revealed. The active cases contain 5.23 % of the total infections, as per the data.

    The cumulative caseload currently stands at 3,85,66,027, according to the data issued by the Union health ministry. At the same time, the related-death toll is at 488,396.

    In terms of Omicron, the cases reached the line counting 9,692. The ministry data further stated that India had registered an increase of 4.36 % in Omicron cases on Friday.

    Moreover, the day-to-day positivity rate streamed to 17.94 %. On the other hand, the ministry also added that the weekly positivity rate is 16.56 %.

    Around 2,51,777 individuals have been recovered from the viral infection in the last 24 hours. These numbers take the total recovery to 3,60,58,806. Meantime, the nation has assisted 160.43 crore vaccine doses under the national vaccination drive.

    Most of the major states in India have already issued Covid-19 guidelines, including night curfews, for limiting the surge of the third wave of the virus. 

    According to the union health ministry, more than 127 Cr balance and underutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and union territories to be used.
