India Reports 1,94,720 Fresh Covid Cases in Last 24 Hours

Digital Desk: India reported 1,94,720 lakh new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of covid-19 cases in India to 3,60,70,510, as per the Union Health Ministry reports. 

On the contrary, India reported 4,868 cases of the Omicron variety.

The number of active cases increased to 9,55,319, the highest level in 209 days, while the death toll increased to 4,84,655 with 442 new fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the updated figures by the Health Ministry.  

According to the ministry, the active cases account for 2.65 percent of the total covid-19 cases, while the national covid-19 recovery rate has dropped to 96.1%.

In just 24 hours, there has been an increase of 1,33,873 active cases.

According to the government, the weekly positive rate was recorded at 11%.

The states that have registered the maximum number of cases are Maharashtra with 34,424, followed by Delhi with 21,259 cases, West Bengal with 21,098 cases, Tamil Nadu with 15,379, and Karnataka with 14,473 cases.

While these five states recorded 54.77 percent of new cases, Maharashtra alone is responsible for 17.68 percent of new cases.

Speaking about the covid cases in Assam, in the last 24 hours, the state has recorded 2,837 new covid cases as per the reports of the National Health Mission. The rate of covid-19 cases spiked by 29 percent on Tuesday, making it the highest score since June 22 last year.

Moreover, the number of positive cases in the Kamrup Metropolitan district, mainly in Guwahati, hiked to 870 from 760 a day before. So, far it has registered a total of 1,34,287 covid-19 cases.
