India trapped in modern-day 'chakravyuh', 6 people running it: Rahul Gandhi's dig at PM over Budget

Gandhi also criticized the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 22, accusing it of failing to address tax terrorism and harming small businesses.

Digital Desk: In his address to the Lok Sabha on Monday, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi described India as being trapped in a 'chakravyuh,' symbolized by the BJP's Lotus emblem. Gandhi criticized the current atmosphere in India, claiming it is dominated by fear.

He elaborated, "India is trapped in a 'chakravyuh' represented by the Lotus symbol that Prime Minister Narendra Modi displays on his chest. The youth are ensnared in the Agniveer 'chakravyuh,' and the Budget lacks provisions for Agniveer pensions."

Gandhi drew historical parallels, referencing the Kurukshetra battle where Abhimanyu was trapped and killed in a 'chakravyuh.' He noted that 'chakravyuh' is also referred to as 'padmavuyh,' meaning 'Lotus formation,' highlighting that this formation resembles a Lotus.

He asserted that a new 'chakravyuh' has emerged in the 21st century, taking the form of a Lotus, with Prime Minister Modi prominently displaying this symbol. Gandhi alleged that what was done to Abhimanyu is now being done to India’s youth, farmers, women, and small and medium businesses.

Gandhi also named six central figures involved in this 'chakravyuh': Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, and industrialists Ambani and Adani. He offered to exclude certain names if needed and emphasized the three primary forces behind this 'chakravyuh': monopoly capital, key institutions like the CBI and ED, and the political executive.

He condemned these forces for their detrimental impact on the country and vowed to dismantle the 'chakravyuh,' stating that a caste census would be a significant step in this direction. Gandhi promised that the INDI Alliance would ensure the passage of both a guaranteed legal MSP and a caste census in the House.

Gandhi also criticized the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 22, accusing it of failing to address tax terrorism and harming small businesses. He expressed disappointment that the Budget reinforced monopoly business and political control, which he claimed undermines democracy and supports the deep state and its agencies.

In a separate development, the Delhi Police have arrested five more individuals in connection with the deaths of three civil services aspirants who drowned when their coaching institute's basement was flooded. This brings the total number of arrests to seven. On Monday, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) conducted a demolition operation in Old Rajendra Nagar to remove illegal encroachments.

The case includes charges under sections 105 (culpable homicide), 106(1) (negligent death), 115(2) (causing hurt), 290 (negligent conduct regarding buildings), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Earlier, coaching centre owners were instructed to clear basement libraries after the MCD's crackdown on centres violating building regulations.

The MCD sealed the basements of 13 coaching centres in Karol Bagh on Sunday due to these violations, despite student protests. Mayor Shelly Oberoi has mandated strict action against illegal basement operations.
The Delhi Police have detained seven individuals linked to the incident, including the coaching centre's owner and coordinator, who face charges including culpable homicide. "Five additional arrests include the basement owners and an individual who drove a vehicle that damaged the building's gate. There was no authorization for commercial use of the basement," DCP Central M Harshavardhan told ANI.

The DCP added that the police are investigating the MCD’s role in the case. They have urged protesting students to avoid blocking main roads and assured that strict action will be taken. "Negligence has been confirmed on the part of the arrested driver, who was speeding and broke the coaching centre's gate. A street vendor had tried to intervene before the incident," the DCP concluded.
