Srinagar: A Pakistani terrorist and top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Nadeem Abrar were both been gunned down in a gunfight with the security forces on Tuesday morning, police said.
The encounter took place in the Parimpora area of the city. The police spokesman said that several incriminating materials, including firearms and ammunition, have been recovered from the sites.
As per the report, on June 28 the LeT Commander Nadeem Abrar was arrested during checking of vehicles in Parimpora by the security forces, was involved in the attack on the CRPF patrol at Lawaypora in March as well as in several killings of security force personnel. After the arrest, the LeT commander during interrogation disclosed the location where he had kept an AK-47 rifle in Maloora locality police said.
According to the statement of the LeT commander, the security forces along with the LeT commander went to a house to recover the weapon (AK-47 rifle) after cordoning it off, the spokesman said adding that the party was entering the house when one of his associates, Pakistani terrorist hiding inside the premises, fired at the party.
In the initial round of fire, three CRPF personnel were injured and Abrar accompanying the search part also got wounded the spokesperson added.
Further, the spokesperson added that in the ensuing gunfire, the terrorist who fired from inside the house got neutralized and Abrar also got killed.
