Digital Desk: Gulmarg, nestled in the enchanting landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir, recently transformed into a mesmerizing winter wonderland following a fresh blanket of snow on Sunday. Tourists revelled in the beauty, with one expressing delight, stating, "The weather is good. We have been waiting for this view for so long." However, not everyone was concerned, as another tourist pointed out the drawbacks of the snowfall, emphasizing the challenges posed by road blockages.

This renowned tourist destination is famed for its captivating scenery during snowfall and the blooming season of lupine flowers, spanning from mid-June to the end of July. Creativity flourishes during the snowfall season, with people showcasing their artistry through intricate snow sculptures. Gulmarg is also a hub for winter sports enthusiasts, offering opportunities for skiing amid its picturesque surroundings.

In February 2022, Gulmarg attracted attention globally with the opening of the world's largest igloo cafe, captivating tourists with its unique appeal. Additionally, a private company introduced a glass igloo restaurant, adding to the distinctive offerings in this captivating locale.

Beyond its breathtaking beauty, Gulmarg boasts landmarks such as St Mary's Church, Maharaja Palace, Maharani Temple, and the Gulmarg Gondola. The India Meteorological Department in Srinagar reported temperatures on Sunday, with Gulmarg registering -5.8 degrees Celsius, emphasizing the chilly winter ambience.

Notably, Gulmarg is not the only jewel in the crown of Jammu and Kashmir. The city of Jammu undergoes a magical transformation into a winter wonderland during the colder months, attracting tourists with its blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. The famous Vaishno Devi Temple, nestled high in the mountains, remains a popular pilgrimage site, drawing devotees who brave the winter chill for a spiritual journey.
