An official statement disclosed that a detailed inquiry has been ordered, with further action to follow. Additionally, George instructed hospitals to strictly adhere to protocols.

Meanwhile, the police have filed a case against Dr. Johnson based on a complaint from the girl's family, charging him under IPC Sections 336 and 337 for endangering the life or personal safety of others.

The family said that the child had no issues with her tongue and expressed hope that such incidents would not recur at the Medical College Hospital. They urged the hospital authorities to take responsibility for any adverse consequences resulting from the mistaken procedure, citing the scheduling of surgeries for two children on the same date as a possible justification for the error.
