Lok Sabha election 2024: Campaigning for 7th and final phase ends, Voting in 57 Seats on Saturday

Digital Desk: The concluding round of polling for 57 Lok Sabha constituencies across eight states and union territories is scheduled for Saturday. Key figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge led numerous rallies nationwide during an intense political campaign.

During the extensive two-month Lok Sabha polls campaign, both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) engaged in a heated exchange of words throughout the seven phases of polling. 

Congress president Kharge criticized PM Modi for not addressing issues of inflation and unemployment during the last fifteen days of campaigning. Kharge alleged that Modi excessively mentioned his name, mandir, and topics related to Muslim, Pakistan, and minorities but neglected crucial economic concerns. Dr. Manmohan Singh Condemns PM's Hate Speeches: Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh criticized PM Modi for indulging in divisive election rhetoric, accusing him of engaging in the "most vicious form of hate speeches." 

Singh emphasized the need to safeguard democracy and the Constitution from what he termed as repeated assaults by a despotic regime. 

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav predicted significant developments in Bihar post the Lok Sabha election results, suggesting that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may not be in harmony with ally BJP. Yadav highlighted Nitish Kumar's reduced campaign activity as a potential indicator of discord.

 

Suspended JD(S) leader and MP Prajwal Revanna was detained by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) upon his return to Bengaluru from Berlin, Germany. Revanna faces allegations of sexual assault and criminal intimidation. He was apprehended at the airport and escorted to the CID office for further proceedings.
