In August, the couple went to Rajasthan to work in a brick Kiln industry. However, after a few days, Rajesh sold his wife to a middle-aged man from Baran district to buy a high-end smartphone added the police.

Further, Rajesh came back home and claimed to the woman’s father that she had eloped with somebody.

However, the woman’s father found it fishy about Rajesh's statement lodged a police complaint at Belpada Police Station.

Based on the complaint the police investigate the case and arrested Rajesh.

Later, a police team rescued the woman from Baran village after facing the mob that blocked the road to stop the policemen.

The 55-year-old man claimed that he has purchased the woman for Rs. 1.8 lakhs.

However, after police interrogation Rajesh claimed that he did not sell his wife, rather he kept her mortgaged for Rs. 60,000 as he needed money for his heart surgery.

Rana was produced before a juvenile court on Friday and sent to a correctional home.
