Digital Desk: Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries, was emailed a third time with a death threat demanding a Rs 400 crore ransom on Monday morning.
It is thought that the sender is the same person who threatened to send two more emails on October 27 demanding Rs 200 crore. Mumbai Police have increased security at Ambani's south Mumbai home in response.
When Ambani first received the threat on October 27, warned Ambani he would be shot if he did not pay Rs 20 crore. 'If you don't give us 20 crore rupees, we will kill you; we have the best shooters in India,' the email said.
Following a complaint by Ambani's security in-charge, Gamdevi Police filed a case under sections 387 and 506 (2) of the IPC against an unidentified individual.
The same email address issued a second threat on October 28, increasing the demand to Rs 200 crore in response to the lack of response. The email said, "The amount is 200 crore and if you don't reply to our email, a death warrant will be signed." Ambani and his family have previously received death threats.
An unidentified caller threatened to blow up the south Mumbai Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in 2022. A jeweller was apprehended in August 2022 on suspicion of making death threats against Ambani and his family. A vehicle carrying explosives was discovered near Ambani's "Antilia" home in south Mumbai in February 2021.
