Digital Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) made a significant breakthrough on Thursday with the arrest of Rakesh Ranjan, alias Rocky, believed to be one of the masterminds behind the NEET-UG paper leak. The arrest took place on the outskirts of Patna, ending Rocky's days of evading authorities by frequently changing hideouts.

Rocky, a resident of Nalanda and reportedly a relative of the main accused Sanjeev Mukhia, was apprehended in the early morning after intensive tracking using technical surveillance methods. He was promptly presented before a special court in Patna, which granted the CBI 10 days of custody for further investigation.

Following Rocky's arrest, CBI teams conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations linked to him in Patna, nearby areas, and even in Kolkata. These raids aimed to gather additional evidence related to the NEET-UG paper leak case, which has sparked nationwide concern over the integrity of the medical entrance examination.

Earlier in the week, the CBI had conducted searches at 15 locations across Bihar and Jharkhand, uncovering crucial evidence pertinent to the investigation. This ongoing probe has already resulted in multiple arrests, including the principal and vice principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, along with individuals suspected of facilitating the illicit activities during the exam.

The CBI's investigation into the NEET-UG paper leak has so far led to the registration of six FIRs, underscoring the gravity of the allegations and the agency's commitment to ensuring justice. As the case unfolds, authorities continue to intensify efforts to root out those involved in compromising the sanctity of one of India's most critical entrance exams for medical education.
