Digital Desk: Namibian Cheetah 'Aasha' gave birth to three cubs on Wednesday, adding three new members to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, reports stated.

A video showing the babies was posted on the social media platform 'X' by Bhupender Yadav, Minister for Environment, Forests, and Climate Change. "A roaring success for Project Cheetah, envisioned by PM Narendra Modi to restore ecological balance," was how the Union Minister described the development.

Taking to X, Yadav stated, "Purrs in the wild! Thrilled to share that Kuno National Park has welcomed three new members. The cubs have been born to Namibian Cheetah Aasha. This is a roaring success for Project Cheetah, envisioned by PM Shri @narendramodi ji to restore ecological balance."

Along with expressing his gratitude to all of the initiative's participants, he stated, "My big congrats to all experts involved in the project, the Kuno wildlife officials, and wildlife enthusiasts across India."

This is the first birth of this kind to have occurred in the national park since March 2023, when Siyaya—later renamed Jwala—gave birth to four cubs, only one of whom made it out alive. Jwala was relocated from Namibia to the Kuno National Park.

According to officials, these cubs have a higher chance of surviving than Jwala's. They believe this to be the case because Jwala's cubs were born in the summer, although the births took place in the winter.

They also saw the births as an affirmation that there’s a conducive environment for them at Kuno National Park.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also congratulated everyone involved in the Cheetah project and stated, "Three new cubs have been born in Kuno National Park under the Cheetah project started under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Madhya Pradesh government. I also want to congratulate all the officials of the state involved with this."
