No LPG cylinder for Rs 450
Rajya Sabha MP Javed Ali Khan asked the government whether the government has recently announced to provide LPG cylinder for Rs 450 in Rajasthan. He also asked the government whether the Central Government is considering providing LPG cylinders at Rs 450 in the entire country including Uttar Pradesh?
Answering both questions in writing, the Minister of State for Petroleum denied any such announcement and said, no announcement has been made by the Government of India to provide LPG cylinder for Rs 450 in Rajasthan.
BJP promised in the manifesto
Now the question arises where did the issue of giving LPG cylinder for Rs 450 come from? Recently assembly elections have been held in five states which include Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Majoram. Bharatiya Janata Party, the ruling party at the center in Rajasthan, had promised in its manifesto to provide cylinders for Rs 450 to the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala Yojana.
Even in Madhya Pradesh, BJP had promised to provide cylinders for Rs 450 in its manifesto. And apart from these two states, Bharatiya Janata Party has been successful in forming the government in Chhattisgarh. Since the formation of BJP government in these three states, the question has started arising whether the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in the entire country including Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will get LPG cylinder for Rs 450?
The matter of BJP's promise raised in Parliament
The echo of BJP's promise in the assembly elections is now being heard in the Parliament too. In such a situation, it is natural to raise the question that by promising LPG cylinder for Rs 450, BJP has succeeded in forming the government in these states. When will the BJP governments of both these states fulfill this promise? However, it is not going to be so easy to fulfill the plans and promises based on which BJP was successful in gaining power in three states because there are many contradictions in it.
LPG to PM Ujjwala beneficiaries at Rs 603
At present the Central Government is providing cylinders to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for Rs 603. In Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has promised to give cylinders for Rs 450 to the beneficiaries of the PM Ujjwala Scheme.
In such a situation, the question arises whether the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will have to pay Rs 450 and the beneficiaries of other states of the country including BJP-ruled states will have to pay Rs 153 more and Rs 603 for refilling the cylinder?
