Digital Desk: The two-day Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday at the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun.
He pleaded to make the state an Indian wedding destination during the ceremony.
Speaking about the plethora of tourism-related prospects available to the state, Prime Minister Modi declared, "This Devbhoomi is going to open many doors for you. Uttarakhand is a wonderful example of how India is moving forward while preserving its legacy and pushing for development today."
He also discussed the development of theme-based tourism circuits designed to introduce visitors to Indian heritage and the natural world. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that Uttarakhand, a state that embodies nature, culture, and tradition, will become a brand unto itself.
In addition, PM Modi urged the nation's youth and wealthy citizens to start the "Wed in India" movement, which would be similar to the "Make in India" effort. Within the next five years, he asked them to arrange and carry out at least one marriage ceremony in Uttarakhand.
"In our country, it is believed that god pairs everyone, so why do those pairs go abroad to start their new journey (of married life)... Just like the 'Make in India' movement a 'Wed in India' movement should be started. At least one wedding from the family should be done in Uttarakhand as part of the destination wedding, to make Uttarakhand a destination wedding spot," he stated.
"Even if 5000 weddings take place in 1 year in Uttarakhand, a new infrastructure will come into place and transform the state into a wedding destination for the world", he further added, highlighting India’s potential to achieve any resolve that it takes.
