Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Press Trust of India office in New Delhi on Saturday, making his first visit to any newsroom since taking office in 2014, and observed the news agency's newly launched video service up close.
During his one-hour visit, Modi talked with the whole PTI staff in batches, as well as senior editorial and executive staff, discussing in depth the media's issues and potential.
According to the PTI, PM Modi was also interested in the teleprinter and creed machine, which were previously considered cutting-edge news delivery technologies.
He walked through every section of the PTI headquarters newsroom, interacting with all news and non-news verticals of the top news agency, which was founded in 1947 and began operations in 1949.
The prime minister also met with PTI CEO and Editor-in-Chief Vijay Joshi to discuss recent issues in politics as well as share about his political path.
Modi also signed the visitor's book and wrote a poem titled 'aachaar, vichaar, or ab samachar...'
During a roadshow in Varanasi during the 2019 election campaign, Modi was given an iconic PTI photograph depicting him amid a sea of admirers.
