Digital Desk: The Patiala House Court has extended the custodial remand of four accused individuals—Manoranjan, Neelam, Sagar, and Anmol—to the Special Cell of Delhi Police for an additional 15 days, extending until January 5, 2024. This development follows their involvement in the recent Parliament security breach case that sent ripples of alarm across the nation.
The breach, occurring on December 13, witnessed two youths infiltrating the Lok Sabha chamber during Zero Hour, deploying smoke cans and chanting slogans, causing a significant security lapse.
In a recent turn of events, the Counter Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Special Cell orchestrated a reconstruction of the breach event with all six accused involved. The aim was to align their statements with the actual sequence of events. These individuals were found to have formed a WhatsApp group comprising 7-8 members, utilizing it to meticulously plan and coordinate the breach across multiple layers of security to gain entry into the Parliament.
To unravel deeper insights, the Special Cell is collaborating with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) to retrieve crucial email communications linked to the conspiracy. The investigative process has involved intensive interrogation and compartmentalized confinement of the accused across various units of the Special Cell.
Subsequent joint interrogations by the CIU have shed light on the coordinated nature of the breach. The incident, coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, elicited profound concern nationwide.
The accused—Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Neelam, and Amol—were initially apprehended at the scene and were placed under seven days of remand by the court. Delhi Police have also been attempting to reissue a SIM card possessed by the accused to access pertinent email data.
In pursuit of widening the scope of the investigation, six teams from the Special Cell have been deployed to multiple locations associated with the accused, spanning Lucknow, Mysuru, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Haryana. Revelations from the probe have unveiled the customization of shoes in Lucknow, where the accused aimed to conceal smoke cans undetected during visits to the new Parliament, exploiting an oversight in the security checks.
The meticulous investigative efforts continue as authorities delve deeper into the intricacies of this alarming breach, striving to piece together every element of this orchestrated event.
