Raghav Chadha talks of "Big Conspiracy" after Delhi CM Kejriwal's arrest

Digital Desk: Aam Aadmi Party's senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has strongly criticized the recent action taken by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to raid Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy 'scam' case. The move resulted in the subsequent arrest of Kejriwal, sparking controversy and condemnation from AAP members.

The Enforcement Directorate's arrival at Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Delhi's Civil Lines, followed by questioning and searching, has raised eyebrows across political circles. Confiscation of electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones, for potential evidence gathering has intensified the scrutiny surrounding the case.

The imposition of Section 144 near Kejriwal's residence by the Delhi Police, restricting public gatherings and protests, adds a layer of tension to the situation. Raghav Chadha took to social media platform X to denounce what he perceives as a pre-election conspiracy against Kejriwal. He emphasized Kejriwal's widespread public support and the inability of anyone to suppress his ideals.

Atishi, another prominent AAP leader and Delhi minister, echoed Chadha's sentiments, condemning the ED's actions. However, the Delhi High Court's decision not to grant protection from arrest to Kejriwal dealt a significant blow to his defense. The court's directive for the ED to respond to Kejriwal's petition and schedule the matter for further hearing in April further complicates the legal landscape.

The Delhi Excise Policy 'scam' case revolves around allegations of corruption and money laundering in the formulation and execution of the city government's excise policy. The ED's claims of kickbacks and illegal funds flowing to AAP have deepened the controversy surrounding the case. Previous arrests, including former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, have intensified scrutiny on the party.

Kejriwal's decision to seek urgent intervention from the Supreme Court underscores the gravity of the situation and the perceived threat to his political career. As the legal battle unfolds, the repercussions of the ED's raid and subsequent arrest reverberate throughout the political landscape, raising questions about accountability, transparency, and the rule of law.
