Digital Desk: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit the United States on September 8, where he will engage with the Indian diaspora, students, and lawmakers. This trip will be his first international visit since assuming the role of Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha.

Sam Pitroda, Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, provided details about the tour. Rahul Gandhi will be in Dallas, Texas, on September 8, and will then travel to Washington, DC, on September 9 and 10.

The Indian diaspora, including NRIs, technocrats, business leaders, students, media professionals, and political figures, are looking forward to welcoming and interacting with Rahul Gandhi, according to Pitroda.

Rahul Gandhi's previous visit to the US was on May 30, 2023, where he met with the diaspora and engaged with over a thousand Silicon Valley residents to discuss the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and his vision for the future. He also spoke with entrepreneurs and experts on AI.

The upcoming visit comes in response to requests from diaspora members who supported the Congress during the Lok Sabha 2024 elections and participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

This trip is significant for Rahul Gandhi as it marks his first international engagement in his new role as LoP, a position he assumed following Congress's win of 99 out of 543 seats in the 18th Lok Sabha elections.
