Rajya Sabha Chairman criticized TMC MP says ‘Shameful’ of mimicking him, video recorded by Rahul Gandhi

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi captured the mimicry as opposition MPs burst out laughing outside Parliament...

Digital Desk: Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar critiqued Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee for impersonating him outside Parliament on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi captured the mimicry as opposition MPs burst out laughing outside Parliament in protest of the mass suspension of opposition MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Dhankhar lashing out commented, "Shameful, ridiculous, unacceptable that an MP is mocking, and a second MP is videographing that incident."

The Trinamool Congress MP imitated Dhankhar in an unplanned act illustrating Parliament's operations, which have been hampered by several adjournments in recent days.

Furthermore, the opposition has requested that Union Home Minister Amit Shah issue an official explanation over the December 13 Parliament security incident.

Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of Law and Justice, also criticised the event and called for Kalyan Banerjee's suspension. "Disregard of house and authority of the chair, the member (MP) should be suspended," he told reporters.

Taking the incident on higher stake, Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Earth Sciences, also lashed out at Kalyan Banerjee and Rahul Gandhi over the event. "MP is mocking Hon'ble Vice President of our Country, while Rahul Gandhi is cheering and filming the contemptible act," he said in a tweet.

In a subsequent post on the micro-blogging site, the former Law Minister stated that the INDIA bloc MPs are uninterested in "Parliament business or people's issues."

    BJP's take on the Incident:

In response to the mass suspension, the BJP addressed their words in X and explained why it arose.

"If you're wondering why Opposition MPs were suspended, here's why... TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee insulted the Honourable Vice President, as Rahul Gandhi enthusiastically applauded. "Imagine how reckless and disrespectful they have been of the House," the BJP wrote on Twitter, alongside a video of the impersonation.

Opposition Party's take on the scenario:

By uploading a picture on X, the Congress also poked fun at the BJP Centre. It is forbidden to ask questions," read the caption.

Jairam Ramesh, a senior Congress leader, attacked the Centre, writing on X, "The new Parliament reflects NAMOcracy in all its tyranny."

Since yesterday, opposition MPs have been protesting outside the Parliament building in response to the suspension of 92 MPs from various opposition parties. Another 49 MPs have been suspended, bringing the total to a record 141.
